What are SSDI & SSI?
If you’ve worked long enough and your disability qualifies, you will be entitled to a monthly income. The main requirement for SSDI and SSI qualification is that the disability must have prevented the applicant from working for a period of at least one year. If you qualify for SSDI, you may also be entitled to Medicare or Medicaid.
To qualify for SSDI, applicants must have worked for at least 10 years before becoming disabled/injured/sick. To qualify for SSI, applicants don’t need a long work history but they do need to meet low-income requirements.
