Bratton Law Vigorously Fights Employment Cases in NJ and PA
There’s a mutual understanding in the workplace; employers expect a day’s work for a day’s pay and employees have the right to be treated fairly in compliance with many state and federal employment regulations, including the Family and Medical Leave Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Discrimination in the workplace shouldn’t be tolerated, nor should employee theft or other illegal activities.
When it comes to your business and livelihood, don’t leave the outcome of an employment lawsuit to chance. At Bratton Law, we take employment law seriously. If you feel you have been wronged by your employer, talk to us about your situation. If you are being accused of something, we will stand by your side and defend your case tirelessly, both during negotiations and in court.
Family and Medical Leave Act
There are federal and state laws that give employees the right to take time off after the birth of a baby, an adoption, or to care for a sick relative or themselves. The Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA) was enacted so employees wouldn’t have to worry about losing their jobs if they took some time off to help family members in need.
FMLA provides certain employees with up to 12 workweeks of unpaid, job-protected leave a year, and requires the company to maintain group health benefits for the employee during the leave. However, the FMLA doesn’t apply to every employment situation; talk to a lawyer to find out if, indeed, you are eligible for FMLA.
If you work in New Jersey or Pennsylvania, and you feel you are entitled to take Family Leave and are being prevented from taking advantage of this federal benefit, talk to an employment lawyer at Bratton Law who will fight for your right to care for yourself or relative. While there are limits to the FMLA, an employer cannot punish you in any way for taking advantage of FMLA when you are entitled to it under law.
Issues of Discrimination: Americans with Disabilities Act & More
Americans with Disabilities Act is a federal law that prohibits employers from discriminating against a person with a disability. Disabilities include physical, psychological and emotional disabilities.
Employment Discrimination: There are federal and state laws dictating that employers may not discriminate against workers because of race, age, gender, ancestry, religion, marital status, disability (including having HIV or AIDS), national origin, taking family leave, political views, genetic information, sexual orientation, pregnancy, or veteran status.
Wrongful Termination: If you have been discriminated against, and were fired or humiliated to the point where you felt you need to quit, call Bratton Law right away. You may be entitled to get your job back and to be compensated for pain and humiliation, punitive damages and attorney’s fees, when appropriate.
Employment discrimination cases are processed through the appropriate federal or state agencies and courts. We won’t back down. Bratton Law’s attorneys will represent you and ensure you fight on your behalf to protect your rights and get you the compensation you deserve.
