Social Worker, Guydon Wiegand Jr., MSW, Promotes Planning, Wellness and Dignity among Elderly Clients

News

Guydon Wiegand, Jr. of Atco, NJ, comes to Bratton Law Group, Attorneys at Law, with significant experience in the senior community. He is passionate about ensuring the highest quality of life for older residents of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, believing wholeheartedly that life care planning is an essential part of preparing for the future. He knows that acting in advance – and not reacting in crisis – is the key to an enhanced quality of life.

As part of the Bratton Law Group Life Care Planning team, Mr. Wiegand will assist clients in making decisions about their future. His calm and organized manner immediately makes clients feel they are being not only provided with sound advice, but are also in the hands of a capable, caring professional.

Although there is no “start date” on when anyone should begin creating a Life Care Plan, Mr. Wiegand suggests sooner rather than later. Since Life Care Planning is a process, it’s a good idea to start the ball rolling now before a crisis begins and you and your family members feel overwhelmed.

Talk with Mr. Wiegand about important topics such as how medical care, living arrangements, financial issues and more will be managed as time marches on. He can advise, too, about how your Life Care Plan will evolve as your family’s circumstances change.

Mr. Wiegand’s brings a considerable amount of experience to the firm.

Prior to joining the Bratton Law Group team in Haddonfield, NJ, Wiegand was promoted to the position of director of independent living at the Fountains at Cedar Parke in Atco in January 2014. He was the facility’s community life director for three years. During his tenure at the Fountains, Wiegand was responsible for overseeing the daily workings of the community. He quickly came to understand the importance of independent living for seniors. In addition to planning and implementing special events and trips of interest to the residents throughout the year, Wiegand worked closely with the dining team to focus on special menus and other activities to promote resident satisfaction.

Earlier in his career, Wiegand was an activities associate at the Sunrise Senior Living Community (The Fountains at Cedar Parke), where he routinely interacted one-on-one and in group settings with residents of the active senior community.

Wiegand served as a social worker for the Watermark at Logan Square in Philadelphia for two years beginning in November 2008 shortly after earning his master’s in social work. In this position, he conducted patient/resident assessments, provided discharge planning for subacute residents, including homecare set up and community-based assistance. He was also able to assist families in choosing hospice care for their relatives.

Beyond his commitment to social work and the aging community, Wiegand is extremely involved in his South Jersey community. He is a volunteer and paid team leader for the Cole Hamels Foundation.

He was previously actively involved in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, serving as a mentor of a “little brother” from 2007 through 2011. In the same time period, he volunteered his services to the Special Olympics, assisting in various events.

He is a graduate of New York University School of Social Work where he received his masters of social work in May 2008. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in forensic psychology in May 2006 from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

The attorneys and staff at Bratton Law Group are proud to welcome Wiegand to their knowledgeable Life Care Planning team, assured that his commitment to South Jersey’s aging community is compassionate and strong. In his new position with the firm as a social worker, he will work to enhance the firm’s position as the go-to resource for families who want to provide the very best care for their aging loved ones while protecting their assets and planning for the future.
